IntroductionThe Shopex group is active in different areas of commercial interiors. Having over 200 people staff the group realises a turnover of about €45 million. Together with one of Shopex' international customers an online sales channel needed to be created for products like displays and interiors. |
GoalsThe goals for this initiative were:
- Realising a European sales channel, replacing the traditional sales channel in the near future;
- Easy and user friendly access to a product catalogue and ordering;
- Online workflow for approvals and reports;
- Providing information on new products to develop (prototypes) next to the existing products.

ProcessDatacon first started with a small scale solution, acting as proof of concept. The main aspects were the user interface, product catalogue end layout of a first workflow for order management. Shortly after implementation the need for functionality arose. The workflow especially within the secured area was expanded adding additional report strategies. |
ResultsAfter it appeared that it was a service improvement as well as cost reducing the conventional way of ordering was replaced by this e-commerce portal shortly after the deployment of the application. All European orders occur through this online application. Still this application is being completed with new functionalities. |
